The new Expression Through Art Program is being funded by a grant from The Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette, awarded on March 26, 2007. Youth in residential treatment at Cary Home will learn to express their emotions in more positive ways through artistic expression. Local artists will provide art lessons to the boys under the therapeutic supervision of Cary Home staff to maximize the opportunity for learning new and productive ways of self expression.
The Friends of Cary Home for Children is participating in a Pampered Chef fundraiser. Pampered Chef is giving the Friends of Cary Home 15% of the proceeds of Pampered Chef sales made by the Friends of Cary Home in the month of February. In addition, our consultants, Renay and Tim Valiant, have agreed to donate another 10% to the Friends for sales made in February (for a total of 25%).
Our fundraiser was an overwhelming success. Thank you to everyone who participated.
On October 18, 2006 the Greater Lafayette Community Foundation announced the award of $14,072 to The Friends of Cary Home for Children for the purchase of new dressers and desks as part of a project to refurbish the bedrooms at Cary Home.
On October 5, 2006, Office Depot donated a $500.00 gift card and new backpacks to The Friends of Cary Home for Children as part of the store's grand opening celebration at the new Lafayette Pavilions shopping center. The backpacks and supplies purchased with the gift card will be used by the Cary Home boys.

On June 23, 2006, Karah Rawlings and Pat Rosen attended a ceremony at Wal-mart on SR 26E in Lafayette to receive a $1,000 grant to purchase clothing for the Clothing Room at Cary Home. Representatives from the Lafayette Breakfast Optimist Club met with Diane Powell at Wal-mart and presented the club's plan to refurbish the Clothing Room. As a result of this meeting, Wal-mart decided to support the project with a grant. The Breakfast Optimist Club is adding $2,000 to the Wal-mart grant so the Clothing Room can be completely restocked with clothes.

Work on the project began on June 17, 2006 by the Optimists with the emptying of the room (no simple task!) and a new paint job!

On June 15th, 2006 Tom Easterday, Sr. Vice President of Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc., presented a check in the amount of $ 9,885.00 to the Friends of Cary Home for Children on behalf of the SIA Foundation (click here to visit the foundation website) for the purchase of news beds at Cary Home. The Friends are very grateful to the SIA Foundation and for this generous gift. It will greatly impact the lives of youth in residential treatment at Cary Home.

New basketball posts, backboards, hoops, and nets provided by The Friends were installed at the Cary Home basketball court in early June 2006. The boys really give them a workout!
June 17th's annual carwash was a stunning success. The proceeds will fund summer activities for youth in residential treatment at Cary Home. Thank you for all who supported the event.

On May 26, 2006, Ronna Bohlander presented a check from the Tipmont REMC Operation Round Up Trust Board for $3,000.00 to The Friends for the purchase of new bed linens at Cary Home. On February 24, 2006, the JPMorgan Chase Foundation awarded a $3,000.00 grant to The Friends of Cary Home for Children for the GED education and preparation program for youth in treatment at Cary Home.
In December 2005, Cary Home for Children hosted a 75th Anniversary celebration, including a wonderful presentation by Bob Kriebel.
Curt Slyder, of the Lafayette Journal and Courier, covered the event. He highlighted the Cary Home's continuing success helping local youth.
Some youth in residence at Cary Home participate in a year-round program through which they learn to care for the horses used at the Wabash Valley Living History Farm at Historic Prophetstown in Battle Ground, Indiana. Working with the horses and other livestock on the museum grounds teaches responsibility, respect and team work. Thanks to a generous grant from North Central Health Services, in December of 2004, The Friends were able to acquire 3 new minivans to aid the staff at Cary Home with transportation needs.
